Overview
Our client, a trusted partner of the UK's Ministry of Defence, is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join the certification team. The role involves authorising products in accordance with the product certification procedure at the Bolton site.
Responsibilities
* Certify the product by the product certification procedure and monitor the operators responsible for product certification.
* Upon inspection, check for proper assembly and inspect all parts for defects in finishing, painting or surface deterioration.
* Conduct a thorough inspection for any physical damages and perform intermediate inspection checks unrelated to product certification.
* Complete manufacturing data pack paperwork and maintain data records/defect reports.
* Control defect items via segregation from good products and produce relevant inspection/quality control documentation/history sheets and audits.
* Care for and use specialised inspection tools.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable manufacturing procedures and meet inspection times.
* Possess a versatile skill set and apply it to various tasks while maintaining the highest workmanship standards and product quality. Also, keep good housekeeping policies.
* Willing to contribute to an environment of process improvement.
What you need
* Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3 Standard)
* Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, diploma, etc.)
* Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ). Not required if a L3 apprenticeship standard has been achieved
Additional Skills
* Must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and commitment to work as part of a team to deliver the business.
* Experience inspecting the work of others for sign off is essential.
* Several years of experience as a skilled person.
* IPC 610 certified / trained preferred

Security Clearance

This job is at our client's site in Bolton facility, one of the North West's leading manufacturing sites for at least 25 years.
