We need a dedicated Electrician based at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital to join our team to help keep our hospital environment safe, operational, and supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff, and visitors - day in, day out. No mean feat! We really mean it when we say no two days are the same - it's a blend of planned maintenance coupled with emergency repairs and everything in between.
You will also work across some of our other hospital sites too, so whilst primarily based at Chorley District General Hospital, you will get out there to other sites at Royal Preston Hospital, Preston Business Centre, and beyond.
This role will involve a 6-week rotating shift pattern, including Days, Evenings, Nights, and Weekends.
Main duties of the job
1. Work as part of a team with five or six colleagues carrying out planned preventative maintenance, repairs to electrical plant and equipment, often independently, with a high level of skill and experience.
2. Attend to urgent repairs, some of which may be hazardous, ensuring safety and compliance at all times.
3. Maintain accurate records of test results and maintenance activities.

Salary:
The NHS Band for this position is Band 4, which for regular hours is £25,147 rising to £27,596 pa (after 3 years).
As a Shift Electrician with the RRP included, based on our current shift pattern, this equates to approximately £32,700 to £35,500 (after 3 years) pa.

Job description
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, colleagues, contractors, and service users.
* Liaise with contractors, utility suppliers, and other parties during and outside normal hours when on call.
* Provide operational advisory support to ensure safety standards and procedures are followed.
* Advise senior staff on maintenance issues outside of normal hours.
* Respond to incidents and assist staff requesting support.
* Coordinate with wards and departments to ensure work is correctly specified, efficient, and timely.
* Perform planned preventative maintenance, inspections, and testing for compliance.
* Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and manuals.
* Assist in commissioning electrical systems and equipment.
* Test, diagnose, and repair faults in electrical systems, including complex systems like generators, switchgear, fire alarms, and building management systems.
* Work safely in hazardous areas and on contaminated equipment, following all safety policies and procedures.
* Understand and adhere to policies on fire safety, infection control, health and safety, COSHH, and manual handling.
* Prioritize workload and maintain accurate electronic records.
* Support project work and new equipment testing, including inspections and minor installations.
* Ensure security of all plant, equipment, and buildings.
* Keep detailed records and update them regularly.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Education (Essential):
* City and Guilds Electrical Installation Part 1 and 2 or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* Recognized electrical apprenticeship completed.
Desirable:
* Technical qualification in a specialist area (e.g., City and Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing).
* City and Guilds 2382-22 18th Edition IET Regulations.
Knowledge and Experience (Essential):
* Ability to understand and follow detailed procedures.
* Proven competence in a maintenance electrical role.
* Ongoing training across traditional trade groups.
Desirable:
* Experience working in the NHS or large complex building services.
