Position Description: At CGI, our Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit delivers mission-critical systems that help keep the UK safe and secure. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in building, automating, and optimising secure, scalable platforms that underpin critical services. This role requires UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain it and will be based on site near Gloucester, five days a week.
Your future duties and responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks to support the delivery of secure, reliable systems within on-premise environments.
* Take ownership of streamlining development and deployment workflows, ensuring platforms are scalable, resilient, and aligned with business and technical requirements.
* Work closely with software developers, infrastructure engineers, and security teams to implement best practices across automation, containerisation, and system monitoring.
* Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and Git-based platforms.
* Automate and optimise infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting.
* Develop and support backend tooling using Java, Python, C#, or C++.
* Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
* Monitor and troubleshoot system performance across infrastructure and applications.
* Integrate and support messaging systems (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ) and databases (MySQL).
* Secure and maintain systems in line with PKI and enterprise security standards.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
* Strong experience in DevOps, automation, or platform engineering roles.
* Proficiency in scripting or development (Java, Python, C#, or C++).
* Strong Linux system administration skills.
* Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
* Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
* Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket).
* Knowledge of messaging systems (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ) and MySQL.
* Understanding of PKI and security best practices.
