Senior Network Engineer – Advanced Comms & Distributed Systems

The Role
We're seeking a practical, curious and hands-on Senior Network Engineer to design, build and support IP-based communication systems spanning multiple regions, ground infrastructure and remote platforms. You'll work across Linux networking, routing, monitoring, protocol development and systems integration.
You'll help create the upper-layer communication logic, enhance observability, optimise performance, and collaborate closely with lower-layer and platform engineers.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, configure and maintain a distributed IP-based network across multiple regions and systems (Linux-based)
* Oversee routing, VPNs, dynamic networking, observability, DNS, QoS and security
* Develop upper-layer communication logic using robust approaches (e.g., TUN/TAP) and open-source tooling
* Build monitoring tools for routing behaviour, packet metrics, throughput, latency and traffic flows
* Drive continuous improvement across performance, testing, debugging and system understanding
* Contribute to QoS, traffic handling, resource utilisation and multi-tenant environments
* Work cross-functionally with RF, security, embedded and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth integration
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years designing and implementing communication networks
* Strong understanding of IP networking (TCP/UDP), tunnelling and secure data handling
* Solid grounding in network/transport protocols
* Proactive communication style, collaborative mindset and adaptability
* Ability to thrive in fast-paced engineering environments
