Role: Associate Scientist (Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Central Scotland - Stirlingshire / Maxim Park, Motherwell
(Permanent move to Motherwell planned mid-2026)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (standard daytime laboratory hours)
Pay: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Associate Scientist to join one of our longstanding clients, a global life sciences organisation, based in Central Scotland.
This role sits within a research and development environment, supporting assay development activities across multiple scientific teams. You will contribute to laboratory-based research, method development, and analytical testing, working in compliance with GLP, cGMP, and regulatory standards.
These positions are offered on a fixed-term contract basis, with seven roles available, all of which are fully site-based.

The Requirements:
Degree qualified in a scientific discipline
Suitable for graduate-level candidates and above
Previous laboratory experience within an academic or industry setting
Strong understanding of GLP and laboratory compliance standards
Confident working independently with minimal supervision
Strong computer literacy and data analysis skills
Excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills
Proactive, methodical and well-organised approach to work
The Role:
Conduct and plan small-scale laboratory experiments aligned with project goals
Execute and complete experiments independently, delivering clear analysis and conclusions within set deadlines
Assist in the design of more complex experiments
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment in accordance with defined protocols
Develop, document and follow SOPs and quality documentation relevant to your work area
Train team members on laboratory procedures where required
Maintain awareness of and compliance with health & safety, biosafety, COSHH, and regulatory requirements
Act as a reviewer for laboratory notebooks, ensuring accurate and compliant record keeping
Highlight and escalate any out-of-trend results to support continuous improvement
