Salary: £32,767 – £37,885 per annum
Overview
Our client, a well-regarded further education provider, is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to lead and develop its communications function. This role is central to ensuring clear, engaging, and consistent messaging across internal and external channels, supporting collaboration, visibility, and stakeholder engagement.
This opportunity is well suited to a confident communications professional with strong strategic judgement, excellent writing skills, and the ability to advise senior leaders on complex or sensitive communications matters.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the organisation’s communications function, ensuring consistent, high-quality messaging across all channels.
* Translate complex information into clear, compelling communications aligned with organisational values and culture.
* Work closely with marketing, curriculum teams, and senior leadership to support organisational priorities.
* Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders and managers, including on high-profile or sensitive issues.
* Develop and maintain effective internal and external communication channels.
* Use digital communications tools, analytics, and media insights to improve reach, engagement, and impact.
* Establish professional communications processes that enhance collaboration and stakeholder confidence.
* Build strong relationships across departments to support joined-up and effective communication delivery.
* Lead, support, or develop a small team where required, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Essential
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
* Strong understanding of digital communications, media trends, and performance analytics.
* Sound strategic judgement and confidence advising senior stakeholders.
* Experience leading or developing small teams or managing communications activity across functions.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
Desirable
* Experience working within a further education or public sector environment.
* Familiarity with organisational change or reputation management communications.
