The Finance & Tax team is recruiting for an experienced VAT Accountant to join them in the Birmingham office. The VAT Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting UK VAT compliance activities, including preparing the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Group, Insurance broker, and other related business lines. Responsibilities:
* Prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Groups.
* Extract data from various IT applications, verify this data, and analyze transactions following UK VAT rules.
* Perform transactional reviews according to internal SOPs and HMRC VAT compliance guidance.
* Support the UK Tax team with International VAT compliance preparation and review, and contribute to process improvements and system refinements.
Experience & Qualifications:
* ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully) qualified tax professional.
* Qualified to CCAB or ATT.
* Experience working in a complex International Group with various VAT recoverable rates.
* Experience in producing UK and International VAT returns.
* Strong knowledge of current UK and International VAT legislation.
* Experience with VAT-specific software, including Alpha VAT (desirable).
* Good communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience in data manipulation from multiple sources.
* Advanced Excel skills are desirable.
* Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
* Positive attitude, problem-solving skills, multitasking ability, and high attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
