We are looking for expressions of interest in an Environmental Health Officer vacancy in the Food Team. We need an enthusiastic, self‑motivated team player to undertake the full range of duties in the team. You will complete a wide variety of work including food safety inspections and interventions across all risk categories, complex complaint and accident investigations, infectious disease and food borne disease investigations and sampling. You will provide professional business advice, support and training. You will inspect and investigate issues in licensed premises. You will undertake Health & Safety investigations as required. You will undertake enforcement action as appropriate and in line with the council’s enforcement policy.
Experience is essential as we are looking for a competent officer who is able to undertake the work with minimal supervision; however support and training can be provided to the right candidate if they meet the essential requirements of the post. You will have proven oral and written communication skills, be able to work on your own as well as being a team player and be capable of managing a heavy and varied workload. Due to the diverse nature of the roles, some working unsociable hours will be required.
Successful Candidate Will Have
* A degree in Environmental Health or has made significant progress in completion of a degree in Environmental Health
* A certificate of registration awarded by the EHRB, or its predecessor, or have completed the CIEH EHP Portfolio and professional discussion, and be eligible for admission on the (CIEH) Register of Environmental Health Practitioners
* Experience of food safety in a regulatory environment
* A full driving licence
