We are thrilled to invite applications from experienced candidates seeking to join our team of Veterinary Care Assistants at Pride Referrals, Derby. As a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA), you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinary team to ensure the well-being and comfort of our patients. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with veterinarians and veterinary nurses, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Pride Veterinary Centre offers state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to deliver world-class patient care. Our facilities include 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, a full advanced imaging suite, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms.
Responsibilities
* You will work in our busy wards department, a fast-paced area of the hospital dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to hospitalised patients.
* Assist the team with daily tasks such as restraining patients for examinations and medication administration.
* Create care plans, maintain hospital cleanliness, walk dogs, feed patients, and more.
What We’re Looking For
* Animal care/handling experience is essential.
* Animal care qualifications are desirable.
* A strong team player with confident and effective communication skills.
* Be proactive and have good time management skills.
* Self-motivated and happy handling animals under supervision.
* Accuracy in following instructions and maintaining records.
* Eagerness to learn new tasks and adapt to new challenges.
Working Pattern
The hours for this role are Monday–Friday with shifts between 7am–9pm. There are no weekends or OOHs, but the successful applicant will be expected to participate in a bank holiday rota, which may include working 1–2 bank holidays per year.
