John Pye is the UK's largest auction house network, offering the biggest volume and widest variety of stock and assets to the secondary market. Our family-owned business has been in operation for more than 50 years in the UK and 2022 has seen our first venture into Mainland Europe with the opening of our site in Spain. Our workforce currently stands at circa 700 employees and continued growth plans are afoot.

We have an opportunity for an ESG Coordinator at our site in Marchington.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Job Title: ESG Coordinator

Reports To: H&S Manager

Job Purpose:

* To support in the collating of ESG data across all part of the business
* To create and publish ESG data, providing comparison data when required
* To provide solutions and ideas on carbon reduction initiatives across the business
* To maintain up to date records of energy and waste usage per site

Context: Working with various John Pye & Sons and external stakeholders: Directors/Managers/Supervisors to promote ESG and carbon reduction across the business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* To work with the H&S Manager in creating, implementing, and maintaining an effective Environmental policy across the business
* To help maintain and enforcement the 14001 environmental accreditations across the business.
* Familiarising self with the ESOS Recommendation Report and implement where possible changes to ensure compliance and 'best practice'.
* Coordinating environment, social initiatives, and compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements of our operating locations.
* Monitor the effectiveness of implementation the appropriate ESMS (Policies, Process, Procedures and Guides) and provide for their updating in line with changes in laws, regulations, and corporate directives.
* To maintain up to date data on waste streams including the type of waste, the weight, cost and emissions produced / saved.
* To provide month on month and like for like data on waste management across the business.
* Review corporate activities and ensure compliance with E&S Policies, Management Plans and Procedures.
* To calculate and publish carbon production levels using industry recognised calculations per site and as a whole and draft narrative content for sustainability reports, trends reports, and other communications.
* Collate and publish data on our social values as well as our aims and objectives.
* Conduct waste audits and contractor audits.
* Carryout sponsorship diligence reports surrounding ethics.
* Assist with the creation of publications including our ESG publication and yearly Carbon reduction plan.
* Look for initiatives on reducing waste that is processed on both a local and national level, including where possible, more 're-use' options.
* Look for opportunities to enhance our social reporting both locally and on a national basis.
* Work with current waste handlers to ensure as a business we become 100% zero waste to landfill.
* Work with the SHEQ team to identify waste recycling improvements such as compactors.
* Explore more environmentally friendly fleet vehicles.
* Help with the creation and implementation of environmental workplace champions across our hubs.
* Assist with holding quarterly committee meetings involving the workplace environmental champions.
* Support the Management in driving the education, communication, training, and implementation of the ESMS across the company in all operational areas, including its associated business activities, sub-contractors, and supply chains, where relevant.
* Create and implement awareness initiatives across our sites, incorporating national support days such as national recycling week.
* Lead or support qualitative landscape/benchmarking studies on corporate sustainability programs, goals, disclosures, performance, and rankings among companies, with corresponding data collection and analysis for client sustainability reporting, industry research, and data management needs.
* Support the ongoing use of the ESG Portal, providing account management and support to end users as needed.
* Continue to build upon reporting of data sets covering Scope 1, 2 and 3.
* Maintain a rolling monthly recorded of data covering Scope 1, 2 and 3.
* Maintained to facilitate effective management of John Pye & Sons Compliance.
* Collate data on carbon credits issues to the business.
* Collate and maintain monthly data on all company travel covering Road, Rail, Sea and Air travel, using industry recognised calculations to calculate out carbon footprint for each travel occurrence.
* Perform various administrative tasks as needed.

Ad Hoc

* Conduct market research and competitive analysis to determine ESG factors that may affect business activity.
* Active involvement in creating tender responses and content as well as evidence gathering in relation to ESG questions.
* Employee Training and upskilling to foster a culture of sustainability and responsible business practices.

Qualification, Skills & Experience required:

* Familiarity with ESG reporting on scope 1,2 and 3.
* Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of sustainability-focused communication campaigns.
* Experience in creating reports and content for newsletters, social media, etc.
* Interest, capability, and passion for ESG particularly Environment.
* Confident researcher capable of reviewing UK legislation and best practice across a range of ESG areas particularly carbon emissions, waste management.
* Strong data gathering, interpretation and analysis skills with attention to detail.
* Good level of computer literacy, including good knowledge of MS Office with good Excel and data manipulation skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
* Full Driving License.
* Willingness to travel / Overnight stay occasionally.

Desirable

* Knowledge of ESG reporting and project management gained through experience or an ESG qualification.
* Specific knowledge of carbon reporting and GHG Protocol essential with knowledge of scope 3 emissions evaluation desirable.
* General knowledge of ISO14001.
* Membership of a technical/environmental professional body at "associate" level or above.
* Knowledge of a variety of environmental Management systems.
* Experience of auditing, being audited and auditing systems.

Working Environment & Social Condition:

* Daily Base: Marchington
* Working Hours: 37.5hrs per week.
