Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Passive Fire to lead the delivery and development of passive fire protection services across a diverse portfolio of contracts.
This senior role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of passive fire works, including fire doors, fire stopping, compartmentation, inspections, and remedial programmes. You will also support business growth through client engagement, commercial support, and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the operational delivery of passive fire protection works across multiple sites
* Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and Building Safety legislation
* Maintain and manage third‑party accreditations (BM TRADA, FIRAS or equivalent)
* Provide technical oversight for fire doors, fire stopping, and compartmentation works
* Manage engineers, APs, and specialist subcontractors
* Carry out audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks
* Ensure all documentation, certification, and reporting is accurate and compliant
* Manage financial performance including turnover, P&L, WIP, and debt
* Produce and present monthly operational and financial reports
* Support tenders, technical proposals, and identification of new opportunities
* Act as the main technical contact for clients, consultants, and auditors
Essential Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 or above in Passive Fire Protection, Fire Stopping, Fire Door Installation, or similar
* FDIS qualification or equivalent
* Strong knowledge of fire doors, fire stopping, and compartmentation
* Experience working with BM TRADA, FIRAS, or equivalent schemes
* CSCS card (Manager or Supervisor level preferred)
* SMSTS or SSSTS qualification
* Full UK driving licence
* Minimum 5 years' experience in passive fire protection
Desirable
* NVQ Level 4/5 in Construction Management or Fire Protection
* BM TRADA or FIRAS-approved installer or inspector status
* NEBOSH or IOSH Health & Safety qualification
* Training relating to the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Order
* Membership of IFE or a similar professional body
Experience & Skills
* Proven experience managing teams and specialist subcontractors
* Strong understanding of compliance documentation and certification
* Experience within FM, compliance, or framework contracts
* Commercial awareness and ability to support business growth
* Confident client-facing communicator
* Strong organisational and reporting skills
