Mere Plantations are a UK registered company, based in Chester, commercially reforesting degraded forestland located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Mere is one of the largest private tropical hardwood plantation developers in Africa, with over 20 years’ experience of reforestation and sustainable land management.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced administrative professional to join the team at Mere’s UK Head Office, based within Chester Business Park.
This is a full-time role, You will be responsible for providing administrative support to the UK Directors and management and supporting our Ghana office when required. This includes answering incoming calls, preparing documents, data entry, liaising and coordinating internally and externally, updating the in-house filing systems including Excel spreadsheets, managing client files and records, preparing and processing application forms, archiving and filing (digital and paper), processing post, ordering stationary, working to source mechanical parts, providing sales administration support, taking on customer service responsibilities and any other duties required by the senior team.
What you'll need to succeed:
• Excellent communication skills, confident speaking to clients and colleagues face-to-face, over the telephone and via email.
The right candidate will have the following attributes:
• Be flexible and proactive in managing multiple priorities.
• Possess excellent IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Have a good knowledge of Office 365.
• Have exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Be able to demonstrate initiative for problem solving.
Ideal additional attributes:
• Experience in working with shipping, logistics and air/sea freight agents, passion for reforestation, green business and social responsibility in the developing world.
• Experience in spare parts and equipment acquisition.
• Other languages would be useful.
Basic requirements:
• 3 years’ experience in an administrative position and office environment.
• UK Driving licence or proven means to commute to work.
• Be fluent in written and spoken English.
