NHS Borders are delighted to invite applicants to join our Acute Mental Health Service. The Borders Specialist Dementia Unit is a 12-bed unit supporting people living with dementia who require specialist hospital care and treatment. A permanent 37-hour position has become available in this newly created unit.
The role offers opportunities for growth and career development in a supportive team, with potential flexibility in working hours. The post is based in the Scottish Borders with easy access to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle.
Responsibilities
* Provide care and treatment to patients on the Borders Specialist Dementia Unit in collaboration with the care team.
* Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care for older adults in a mental health setting.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and participate in shift patterns, including night shifts.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience with older adults and in mental health settings.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts.
* A permanent 37-hour contract is available; flexibility may be offered for the right candidate.
Important Information
* As from 1 April 2026 the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce to 36 hours; part-time hours will be pro-rata with a corresponding increase in hourly rate.
* Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check; if assessed as a "regulated role", appointment will be subject to PVG scheme checks. Details will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
* To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement to demonstrate permission to work; NHS Scotland Boards will check entitlement to work in the UK. Certain visa routes or settled status may apply. Sponsorship opportunities may be possible in special circumstances but depend on sponsorship eligibility.
