Finance, Reporting & Insights Manager – Part‑Time
Location: Newquay, Cornwall Reporting to: CEO Hours: Approx. 16‑24 hours/week (negotiable). £16 – £18.50 an hour.

The group includes two surf media platforms, Wavelength and Longboarder, The UK Surf & Skate Expo, Marwick Marketing as a digital marketing agency and 10 Over Surf Shop. We are looking to hire an in‑house finance and data manager to grow with the businesses. The role offers flexi hours, team days out, surf and beach lunch breaks, bi‑monthly massages and many more perks.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
* Maintain accurate bookkeeping: record transactions, reconcile bank statements, manage accounts payable and receivable.
* Process payroll and pensions for UK staff; ensure HMRC compliance.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns with full supporting records.
* Produce monthly management accounts: P&L, balance sheet, cash‑flow, variance analysis.
* Support budgeting and forecasting; track actuals vs. budget.
* Liaise with external accountants and auditors; prepare documentation and respond to queries.
* Maintain compliance with statutory and tax requirements.
Data Management & Reporting
* Manage and update centralised financial and operational datasets across the group.
* Maintain and evolve cross‑company KPI dashboards covering financial, operational, and marketing metrics.
* Coordinate with brand leads to ensure data accuracy and timely updates.
* Compile and present quarterly financial and KPI reports for leadership and stakeholders.
* Identify insights and trends to inform group‑level strategy.
Process & Systems
* Improve financial and data reporting workflows; implement automation where appropriate.
* Maintain consistent data standards and definitions across all entities.
* Recommend software or integrations to strengthen reporting and visibility.
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong bookkeeping and payroll experience within UK SMEs.
* Proficient in VAT, HMRC compliance, and management reporting.
* Skilled with accounting and data tools including Xero, Shopify, and Google Sheets.
* Competent in data management and KPI tracking.
* Analytical mindset with strong organisational discipline.
* Excellent communication across finance and non‑finance teams.
* Ability to see the bigger picture across multiple brands: Wavelength, UK Surf & Skate Expo, Longboarder, Marwick Marketing, and 10 Over Surf Shop – understanding how each contributes to group performance.
Desirable
* Experience in multi‑brand, creative, or retail environments.
* Knowledge of financial modelling and data visualisation.
* Experience integrating finance and performance data (e.g. via BI tools or APIs).
