Overview
We are seeking an outstanding Special School Nurse to join our well-established Special School Nursing Service. At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we provide nursing support to six special schools that sit within our trust's footprint. This vacancy is based in one of the six special schools and may require some clinical support across any of the schools.
We are looking for an experienced nurse who has previously worked in a school environment or in a healthcare role with children and young people. We offer clinical supervision, regular appraisal, training and support to achieve your personal development plan, and peer support from colleagues in similar roles. You will play an important role within the delivery of integrated children’s acute and community services. Child Health offers development opportunities and access to expertise for advice and support in your role.
Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for ensuring care plans are maintained and reviewed.
* Support consultant-led clinics.
* Work with children and families to help achieve maximum independence in health and wellbeing.
* Develop best practice in line with the Child Health Strategy and health promotion.
* Work closely with teachers and classroom assistants to meet care needs and to teach health interventions and health promotion skills.
* Be flexible in a changing environment and respond to emergency needs as they arise.
