Overview
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Laboratory Technician on a freelance, Outside IR35 contract for an initial 6‐month engagement in the Norfolk region. This role supports a busy geotechnical testing programme delivering soil and aggregate testing to UK and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, and construction materials
* Tests may include classification, compaction, shear strength, permeability, CBR, and chemical testing
* Accurate logging, recording, and reporting of test results
* Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring calibration standards are met
* Adhering to UKAS, BS, and project‐specific quality and safety procedures
* Supporting site staff and engineers with technical data as required
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience working in a geotechnical or materials testing laboratory
* Strong understanding of BS / Eurocode testing standards
* Competent in handling laboratory equipment and test procedures
* Good attention to detail and record‐keeping skills
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
* Full UK driving licence preferred
