Role Purpose

The Procurement Manager leads the J&P Group procurement function, ensuring timely, compliant and cost‑effective sourcing of materials, parts and services across all divisions. The role provides strategic oversight of procurement activity, manages team performance, supports supplier governance and drives continuous improvement in procurement processes and turnaround times. The Procurement Manager also has responsibility for overseeing stock control operations, ensuring accurate stock levels, effective replenishment and the reduction of slow‑moving or obsolete items. This role forms a critical leadership position within the procurement hierarchy and ensures alignment between operational needs and procurement delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead, support and develop the procurement team, ensuring clarity of roles, performance and expectations.

* Run structured daily start‑of‑shift briefings to allocate work, set priorities and communicate operational updates.

* Monitor team workload, KPIs and service levels to ensure efficient processing of procurement activities.

* Provide coaching, guidance and professional development support.

* Oversee timely processing of purchase requests, RFQs, sourcing events, PO creation and supplier onboarding.

* Ensure all procurement activity adheres to approved processes, financial controls and supplier frameworks.

* Review and validate quotations, pricing updates, PO accuracy and supplier documentation.

* Act as the escalation point for supplier concerns relating to delivery, quality or pricing.

* Maintain and oversee procurement data and product catalogues across SAGE, Klipboard and EMMS systems.

* Provide leadership for Stock Control, ensuring accurate stock levels, cycle counts and replenishment.

* Oversee minimum/maximum stock levels and adjust based on demand trends.

* Drive initiatives to reduce obsolete and slow‑moving stock.

* Lead supplier relationships, supporting evaluations, onboarding and corrective action plans.

* Act as central link between procurement and PPM, Projects, Engineering and Service divisions.

* Communicate procurement risks, priorities and progress to senior stakeholders.

* Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, audit requirements and financial governance.

* Lead improvement projects to enhance turnaround times, process efficiency and supplier performance.

Skills & Experience

* Experienced procurement professional within engineering, technical services or project environments.

* Strong understanding of procurement governance, supplier management and stock management principles.

* Leadership experience managing teams in a fast‑paced operational environment.

* Ability to interpret procurement and stock data to support decision-making.

* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder relationship skills.

* Competent user of procurement and stock systems (SAGE, Klipboard, EMMS, Excel).

Job Details

Job Title: Procurement Manage

Reporting to: Directors & Senior Leadership

Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:30–16:30, Friday 08:30–14:00

Salary: £45k - £50k per annum

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
