The post holder will join our new Frailty Assessment Unit, which is the only unit in North West London to achieve all 5 of NHS England's Acute Frailty service recommendations. This stand-out unit offers acute front-door frailty care in an 8-bedded assessment unit with direct pathways from the community, LAS, and ED. This provides an opportunity to work alongside a developing ACP and MDT workforce.
The post-holder will also be responsible for managing 15 inpatients on Hayes ward, a 30-bedded ward, alongside another consultant. There is dedicated time within the job plan to cover colleagues on Hayes ward and Franklin ward, another Elderly Medicine ward.
The post-holder will report to the Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospital. It is a 10 +1 PA post: 9 DCC, 2 SPA (service development, audit, CPD). The role involves providing an effective service for older people, supporting service development, audit, and governance.
The post includes participation in the on-call emergency medical rota approximately 1:22, with on-call duties from home and onsite ward rounds. There is encouragement to develop a special interest in Geriatric Medicine aligned with service needs.
