As a Team Leader in Waste Markets & Shipments (WM&S), you will lead a technical team that supports businesses to reduce waste, improve recycling standards, and operate more sustainably across England. You will work closely with your Senior Technical Officer and drive strong outcomes through leadership, performance management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Manage and encourage health, safety and wellbeing ensuring best practice ways of working align with Environment Agency policies.
* Lead and support a team of technical officers, setting priorities for operational and regulatory activities.
* Monitor team and individual performance against required standards and service levels.
* Promote inclusion by respecting differences in the workforce and cultivating an engaging working environment.
* Recruit, motivate and develop team members to achieve departmental goals.
* Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage difficult conversations with stakeholders and communicate effectively at the appropriate level.
* Lead effective changes to policy and processes to improve efficiency and safety of work.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience leading a diverse group and managing health, safety and wellbeing.
* Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and adapt style to the audience.
* Proven ability to deliver results through others and drive change successfully.
* Capacity to manage challenging workloads and varying priorities while owning personal and team development.
* Knowledge of pEPR regulations, compliance and enforcement legislation is not essential; training will be provided.
* A valid full UK driving licence is essential and must be obtained prior to your application.
