CSS Recruitment and Training are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer in Birmingham.
Working Hours
1. Monday - Thursday | 8am - 5pm
2. Friday | 8am - 3pm
Key Responsibilities
3. Provide HSE advice and support to managers, supervisors, and colleagues regarding the entire company workforce, subcontracted labour, other site workers and members of the public
4. To develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement and continual improvement
5. To create safe systems of work RAMS etc and ensure these are being effectively applied
6. To complete HSE site inspections
7. To complete incident investigations and identify and implement improvement measures
8. Become aware of the functions of other members of staff in the department as they affect your work
9. To attend necessary meetings as required
10. To undertake assigned work in a professional and efficient way, in compliance with current HSE legislation, regulatory requirements and the company’s integrated management systems
11. To communicate in a professional, helpful and non-prejudicial manner in all your dealings with clients and customers as you will be regarded as a representative of your department and the company, and you should behave accordingly
12. To behave in a professional manner and always cooperate with all other members of staff
13. Deliver regular toolbox talks
14. Review and record First Aid and spill kit provision across all sites
15. To maintain high standards of work within your department
16. Any other duties deemed necessary by management
Requirements
17. NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
18. Proven HSE experience for a minimum of 5 years
19. Experience of working in new build and M&E construction environments
20. Experience of undertaking health and safety audits
21. Experience of lifting operations and associated hazards
22. Experience of creating RAMS for complex works
23. Knowledge of health and safety aspects, including legislation and technical standards
24. Accident and incident investigation experience
25. Excellent attention to detail, organisational, planning and communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to deal with clients & internal staff
26. Ability to influence change and challenge those who flaunt Health & Safety rules and guidance
27. Ability to work under pressure and on own initiatives to achieve self and team targets
28. Ability to proactively deal with employees all levels across the company to come up with solutions
29. Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
30. Ability to travel to other sites across the UK
31. Full UK driving license
Salary
£40,000 - £45,000 per annum
