Maintenance Person at Primrose Care Home, Kara Healthcare
At Primrose Care Home, part of Kara Healthcare, we are looking for a dedicated and proactive Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and a practical approach to maintaining the care home's facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the care home is a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for both residents and staff. Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out regular checks and maintenance of the care home's facilities, including heating, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building upkeep.
* Address and repair any maintenance issues as they arise, ensuring minimal disruption to the residents and staff.
* Ensure that all equipment, tools, and machinery are in good working order and safe to use.
* Complete minor repairs to walls, doors, windows, and furniture, ensuring the environment remains pleasant and functional.
* Assist in maintaining the grounds around the care home, including managing outdoor spaces, walkways, and safety features such as lighting and handrails.
* Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to, including performing risk assessments and taking necessary actions to prevent hazards.
* Help with the preparation of rooms for new residents, ensuring rooms are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and functionality.
* Liaise with external contractors for any larger or more specialized repair or maintenance work, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
* Assist with stock control and ordering of maintenance supplies as necessary.
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management, prioritizing tasks to ensure the care home remains in excellent working condition.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a maintenance role, ideally in a care home, healthcare, or similar setting.
* Good knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
* Ability to identify and address maintenance issues quickly and effectively.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach to repairs.
* A good understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to apply these within the workplace.
* Excellent communication skills to interact with residents, staff, and contractors effectively.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A flexible, can-do attitude with a focus on customer service and resident care.
* Physical stamina to perform maintenance duties and lift heavy objects when necessary.
* Basic IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Health and safety certifications (e.g., first aid, fire safety).
* Any relevant trade qualifications (e.g., plumbing, electrical, or carpentry).
