Hours: Term-Time + 2 weeks for 35 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 09:30 to 17:30, Friday 09:00 to 17:00
General: Mary Hare educates profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where we can make a real difference at this National Centre of Excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.
The Role
To work as part of a team under the direction of the Office Manager. The post-holder will manage efficient running of a full range of administrative support duties to the Vice Principal (Curriculum) and be responsible for reception cover and transport arrangements for the pupils at the end of the day (Monday to Thursday 16:00-17:30).
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Vice Principal (Curriculum), including prioritising workload and ensuring timely responses in line with agreed action plans.
* Manage and maintain the Vice Principal (Curriculum) diary, coordinating appointments and scheduling meetings as required.
* Meet weekly with the Vice Principal (Curriculum) and Assistant Principal (Progress & Attainment) to update on tasks.
* Independently manage daily workload, using initiative and knowledge to prioritise tasks with minimal supervision.
* Provide reception cover when necessary, ensuring continuity of service.
* Proofread pupil progress reports, ensuring accuracy and resolving queries prior to distribution.
* Supervising pupils waiting for collection.
* Communicating with Residential Houses/prep supervisors to locate pupils when needed.
About You
* Experience of providing high-level support in a busy, politically sensitive environment
* Experience of producing meeting minutes and documents of a high quality
* Knowledge of and committed to school policies including Child Protection, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities
* High level of ICT skills including knowledge of MS Office 365 and SIMS
* Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice within an education setting
