The Role
Are you a pharmacist with a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with mental health conditions? NHS Lanarkshire’s Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHLD) Pharmacy team have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join our growing team of dedicated pharmacy professionals. Following new investment from the Scottish Government into mental health pharmacy, NHS Lanarkshire’s service are developing new roles, advancing existing roles and planning for significant service redesign. The successful candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to patients within the adult mental health wards in University Hospital Hairmyres with the opportunity to work in other mental health subspecialties to develop experience and clinical skills.
Qualifications
* Masters of Pharmacy Degree
* Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council
* An independent prescribing qualification or must work towards this qualification
* Evidence of postgraduate training and professional development in clinical pharmacy practice
* Relevant post‑registration experience in clinical pharmacy
* Ability to act independently and manage own workload
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and multi‑disciplinary environment
* Good clinical knowledge, a commitment to quality with high standards of pharmaceutical care and a dedication to lifelong learning.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in education and training of other professionals and trainees.
* Commitment to revalidation as per directions of General Pharmaceutical Council
* Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
Preferred Experience
* Experience of working within specialist mental health services.
* Experience in supervising staff
* Proven project, practice research and audit skills
* Ability to drive

Location and Working Pattern
The Adult mental health wards in South Lanarkshire are within University Hospital Hairmyres. Mental health and learning disability services are board‑wide and there will be a need to travel across NHS Lanarkshire and beyond at times as part of this role. There is currently no requirement to participate in on‑call for this role, however this may be subject to change as the service develops. Please refer to the role profile for the organisational diagram of the MHLD pharmacy team.
