Inverness
NHS National Services Scotland
Prosthetist
€60,000 - €80,000 a year
Posted: 10 May
Offer description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual, to join our in-house team at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. This is a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills as a dual practising Prosthetist/Orthotist, in the fast-paced setting of the largest acute hospital in the Scottish Highlands.

The Prosthetics and Orthotics Services comprise around 12 staff, including Prosthetists, Orthotists, Orthotic Assistants, Technicians and Administrative support. Many devices are manufactured in our in-house workshop, and clinicians work closely with our technical team to ensure devices are manufactured to the highest standard. Clinicians are encouraged to carry out their own plaster rectification, CAD-CAM modelling and modification of devices in the workshop.

As part of a small team, the clinical caseload is varied, with the opportunity to develop skills in all areas of Prosthetics and Orthotics. We encourage a close working environment with other clinical specialities, with clinicians regularly attending multidisciplinary clinics and joint working with other AHP’s. The caseload for this post is split with 80% in Orthotics and 20% in Prosthetics, however a flexible approach is required to provide cover during periods of staff leave or absences.

We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking and driven clinician who is keen to develop their skills across both disciplines. The successful candidate will benefit from support and preceptorship to progress in their role and protected CPD time.

We welcome applications for this post from new graduates, as well as more established clinicians who are looking to progress their career.

Inverness is a rapidly growing University city, at the heart of the Highlands, with easy access to leisure opportunities provided by the great outdoors.

Candidates must be HCPC registered, have a full driving licence and preferably members of BAPO.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
