Job Description
Based in Newport, South Wales, this role involves taking strategic control of the statutory compliance program related to asbestos management, including budgeting, scheduling, and contract management. The role involves managing day-to-day asbestos contract activities, conducting audits and inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Compliance Manager will oversee a team of four, including Compliance Officers and Coordinators, and will be the main point of contact for asbestos-related matters, providing guidance and advice to clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
1. Reporting & Budget Management: Track activity, report outcomes, manage budgets, and ensure value for money.
2. Customer Service: Handle stakeholder inquiries and communicate effectively.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for compliance delivery.
4. Asbestos Management: Coordinate asbestos reinspection and surveys, and advise on related projects.
5. Contract Development: Lead new contract initiatives and evaluate tenders.
6. Audits: Lead internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
7. Team Management: Lead the compliance team, foster a compliance culture, and drive improvements.
8. Professional Development: Keep updated with legislative and best practice developments.
9. Travel: Conduct site inspections and meetings as required.

Minimum Requirements
* Relevant professional asbestos qualification (P405)
* Knowledge of statutory compliance regulations
* Understanding of building and H&S legislation
* Experience managing asbestos risks
* Organizational and communication skills
* Management experience in a relevant environment
* Budget management skills
* Proficiency in MS Office
* Full UK driving license
Desirable Criteria
* Management qualification (ILM, NVQ)
* Membership of professional bodies (e.g., IOSH, CIOB)
* Experience with cloud-based systems
