The Engineering Manager is responsible for delivering a high-quality, integrated engineering service that aligns with Client's business objectives. This role ensures all engineered solutions and products operate safely, meet performance expectations, maintain technical integrity, and comply with Client standards. The role also focuses on the continuous improvement of engineering processes across the contract.
Reporting Structure:
1. Reports to: Technical Services Manager
2. Supervises: Lead Engineers, Drawing Office Coordinator, Technical Documentation & Records Personnel
3. Key Interfaces: Offshore Services Leader, Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Commercial and Project Services Coordinators, Job Responsible Engineers
Qualifications & Competencies:
1. Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) status required
2. Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in senior positions within the offshore petrochemical contracting industry
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and enhance the integrity and performance of engineering services on the contract
2. Ensure consistent application of Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning management systems
3. Promote technical and performance improvements across engineering disciplines
4. Uphold and improve adherence to the Quality Management System
5. Ensure the engineering and construction support infrastructure meets project needs
6. Guarantee technical integrity and safety in all design and study work
7. Maintain alignment with Client's management systems and technical standards
8. Ensure all personnel are qualified and competent for assigned engineering tasks
9. Optimize collaboration between Engineering, Document Control, QA, Construction, and Commissioning functions
10. Oversee timely and cost-effective technical close-out of projects
11. Support corporate engineering initiatives and maintain links with other offices and project locations
12. Manage engineering resources across the full contract scope
13. Resolve technical queries and support project close-out activities
14. Develop and implement engineering and design strategies and processes
15. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in engineering practices
16. Monitor team performance and quality, addressing any deviations from project objectives
17. Represent the engineering function in client discussions as needed
18. Collaborate with other functional leads to maintain project momentum and continuity
19. Attend mandatory safety and environmental training sessions
20. Support staff development through performance appraisals and participation in recruitment
21. Contribute engineering input to contract proposals
22. Stay updated on evolving technologies, standards, and legislation affecting onshore and offshore operations, and disseminate relevant updates to the engineering team
