Gap Assistant

Brighton College Prep School is seeking to appoint a Gap Assistant to start in January 2026. This is a fixed:term role, ending in August 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
* To assist in the games, music, drama and dance department, preparing equipment for lessons, supporting during lessons and on fixtures or in concerts and productions.
* To help with clubs and activities at lunchtimes and after school.
* To help with regular duties, supervising in the playgrounds and dining hall.
* To help manage the lost property system in school.
* To be responsible for tidying specific areas of the school.
* To assist staff with displays.
* The role may involve working in the EYFS with children from the age of three years old.
* Any other reasonable management request to support the day:to:day running of the school.

The role of a Gap Assistant involves assisting with the whole life of the School, including co:curricular activities. Candidates should point to areas of interest as part of their application.
The post:holder will be pro:active, organised and willing to go the extra mile. The ability to work well with colleagues at all levels and uphold a positive approach is essential.
Hours of work:
* The post:holder will work 46.25 hours per week: 7.45am : 5.30pm, with a 30:minute unpaid lunchbreak, Monday to Friday inclusive.
* Some flexibility with start and finish times will be required.
Holidays:
* The role is term time only (35 weeks per year).
* Annual leave entitlement is included in the salary for this role.
* Holidays should be taken outside of the working weeks.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
* This role will involve daily contact with pupils and the successful candidate will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
* All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible and with whom they come into contact.
