The Senior Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling integrated project schedules for large-scale power transmission projects, including substations, overhead lines (OHL), underground cables, and grid infrastructure.
The role ensures accurate planning, progress monitoring, forecasting, and schedule risk analysis to support safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of complex transmission programmes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Schedule Development & Integration
Develop and maintain detailed Level 3–5 schedules for transmission projects.
Build logic-linked, resource-loaded programmes using Primavera P6 or equivalent.
Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and outage plans.
Ensure alignment with regulatory milestones and client requirements.
2. Planning Governance & Controls
Apply structured planning standards and WBS development.
Ensure compliance with NEC, FIDIC, or equivalent contract planning requirements.
Maintain baseline control and change management processes.
Support stage-gate reviews and assurance processes.
3. Progress & Performance Management
Lead monthly update cycles including progress validation and critical path analysis.
Identify schedule risks, float erosion, and constraint impacts.
Produce earned value metrics (SPI, CPI where applicable).
Provide early warning and mitigation recommendations.
Develop what-if scenarios and recovery programmes.
Analyse outage windows, access constraints, and seasonal impacts.
Support delay analysis and claims preparation where required.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and site management.
Present schedule performance at governance forums.
Interface with client planning teams and regulatory stakeholders.
6. Reporting & Data Analytics
Produce dashboard reports and executive summaries.
Provide 4D planning input where applicable.
Use digital planning tools and data analytics to enhance forecasting.
