Job Description
The Building Fabric Engineer will:
3. Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on building fabric, pipework, basic plumbing and electrics.
4. Identify and resolve any issues related to building structures or surfaces.
5. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all maintenance activities.
6. Collaborate with other departments to address facility-related concerns effectively.
7. Manage and maintain tools and materials required for building fabric repairs.
8. Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergencies.
9. Maintain records of completed work and report on building conditions as needed.
10. Support ongoing improvement projects within the facilities management department.
11. Work Wednesday to Sunday 5 days a week (Saturday and Sunday mandatory, days in the week can flex).
The Successful Applicant
A successful Building Fabric Engineer should have:
12. Previous experience in facilities management or building maintenance.
13. Knowledge of building maintenance, including basic carpentry, painting, electrics and plumbing.
14. An understanding of health and safety practices and regulations.
15. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
16. A proactive approach to take ownership and quality of work completed.
17. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
18. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance issues.
19. An engineering qualification at NVQ Level 3.
20. A background working in manufacturing and production environments (preferred).
21. Experience with steam based boilers/systems (preferred).
