We are looking to recruit community support workers to join our lovely team that we have established over the last 10 years, supporting individuals to remain independent in their own homes. We offer excellent rates of pay (weekend rate paid from 4pm on a Friday) We pay blocked hours We pay mileage Pension scheme Flexible hours can be accommodated we are looking for full time candidates but other hours will be considered. All training provided and opportunity to gain further qualifications in Health and Social Care Pool cars available Job description: Purpose of Position To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. Care provided by support workers is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the service users own family and is not expected to include tasks that would normally be expected to be undertaken by a trained nurse. To support and enable service users living in the community, or in supported living with their physical, emotional and social well- being. This post includes providing personal care, practical and emotional support to enable each person to lead a person-centred lifestyle within their community. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1) To support services users to achieve their maximum independence in daily living skills. This will include full assistance 2) To support service users where appropriate, with all aspects of personal hygiene ensuring the privacy and dignity of the person involved. 3) To assist people to lead full and purpose filled lives within their community and to develop a range of friendships, activities and relationships, helping people to make ordinary life choices and decisions about their lifestyles. 4) To provide support consistent to Quality Care Ltd standards of care and other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines. 5) To attend and contribute to review meeting, staff meetings and training and development programmes as and when required. 6) To Develop, review and implement risk assessments and care plans for service users as required with the lead care coordinator 7) To ensure professionals, relatives and service users in line with Quality Care Ltd codes of conduct. 8) To assist individual service users to develop their self-confidence and allow them to maximise opportunities for choices and decisions, as identified in the care plan/risk assessment 9) To undertake the duties associated with domiciliary care, supporting service users in undertaking activities, including cooking, cleaning, shopping, washing and ironing 10)To liaise with the appropriate services to ensure that the service users needs are met, and they have access to the community facilities and resources 11) To assist and manage medication, where appropriate, in accordance with the medications policy and procedures 12) To enable service users to manage their own finances or to provide appropriate support where required in accordance with Quality Care Ltd finance policy 13) To be aware of your own, and service users health and safety, acting in accordance with Quality community Care Ltd health and safety procedures 14) To use a creative approach in helping people to retain or regain their leisure, social skills and interest in line with the care plan 15) To undertake written recording and reporting of activities or incidents as required Essential Criteria: Candidates must have an interest and aptitude in working with people. Understanding of the needs of people with varying and complex needs. Be able to implement care in accordance with the care plan. Willingness to experience new situations and work with people who can be challenging. Be able to work as part of a team and able to work on their own initiative. Process good verbal and written commutation skills. Ability to develop opportunities for activities in the service users home. Able to show empathy and a positive and caring approach to service users. All staff are required to respect the confidentially of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment. All staff are expected to respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998. All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
