We have an exciting new opportunity within in Underwriting as a New Business Mid-Market Team Manager within the central London area. The role is accountable for delivery of the team’s people and operational performance ensuring strong underwriting quality and capability development, driving profitable growth and supporting strategic direction.
A bit about the job:
This role is responsible for the operational performance of a team of around 12 Underwriters in the Central London area. The role involves working alongside the Senior Underwriters to enable the delivery on the profit/loss, revenue, capability, resource, governance and engagement of the team. You’ll be expected to confidently make decisions without delay, ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders, and be well organised with excellent diary management skills to ensure that all deadlines are met every time.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
1. Excellent leadership, communication, listening and negotiating skills
2. Strong underwriting background across multiple classes of business (Property/Casualty/Construction/Motor)
3. Great relationships within the market
4. Able to analyse risks, communicate and present effectively to brokers and customers
5. Have a love of learning grounded in curiosity, open-mindedness and a drive to make things better by understanding them more completely
