Walton Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a paramedic practitioner to join our practice. This role can be offered on a part-time basis, with flexibility on days and hours.
You will be required to provide a high-quality, cost effective service to the patients of the practice, our care home patients, diagnosing and prescribing treatments and drugs working within defined procedures and protocols as laid down by the GPs.
Clinically you will be responsible for receiving patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make an assessment of their healthcare needs. You will carry out assessment, home visits, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, referral and discharge as appropriate and deliver key elements of the NSFs, providing public health, health protection and promotion programmes that improve health and reduce inequalities. You will work closely with a team of GPs and practice nurses.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities:
* Diagnosing and treating patients presenting with acute medical and minor illness or requesting home visits.
* Break bad news to patients/parents/carers and provide appropriate ongoing support to meet identified needs.
* Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations.
* Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary.
* Provide assessment, screening treatment services and health education advice.
* Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary.
* Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, etc, as required.
* Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.
* Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded and amended.
* Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice.
* Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the induction of all members of the practice staff where appropriate.

Experience

Qualifications
* HCPC registered paramedic
* Hold a level 7 qualification in Clinical Assessment
* Must be a qualified prescriber
