About Our Client
Our client is a government-owned economic development bank who design, deliver and manage finance programmes to support smaller businesses, facilitating their development and contributing to the transition towards a net zero economy. The business act as an institutional investor in a range of venture and growth equity funds and small and mid-cap credit funds.
They operate over a couple of sites in the UK and are currently at approx. 550 employees.
They are looking for a Debt Lawyer to support the team from Sheffield on a hybrid working basis.
Job Description
The main responsibilities include:
* Providing legal advice on financing and capital markets transactions
* Advise on the business' management of its portfolio, including in relation to direct guarantee schemes
* Support on public law, disputes, subsidies, procurement, regulatory issues and corporate and commercial matters
* Working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
* Travel between London and Sheffield office may be required based on business needs.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal Debt Lawyer will be 2-4 years' PQE with structured finance or banking experience.
Candidates with greater or fewer years' PQE will still be considered.
* Experience of managing external counsel an advantage.
* Knowledge of working with central government, economic development bank or public sector body would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of state aid, public law, freedom of information, data protection, judicial review, procurement law an advantage.
