JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK and is looking for experienced PAT Engineers to work as independent contractors or self‑employed professionals. All engineers must have their own insurance and equipment calibrated at least once a year. We provide an engineer handbook, contract for services, branded clothing, labels, and technical support.
Job Description
We are hiring PAT Engineers in Larne with flexible hours, allowing part‑time or full‑time work. Engineers should have a reasonable commuting distance from Larne or the ability to travel nationally. Earnings are pro‑rated based on the rate per appliance and the number of tests completed, with jobs ranging from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts.
Responsibilities
* Travel to various sites (hospitals, retail outlets, offices) to conduct Portable Appliance Testing.
* Use testing instruments to assess electrical safety of appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers.
* Inform users of test results and explain whether appliances require repair or replacement.
* Record findings in PAT test report books or electronic systems and provide employers with copies.
* Complete additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
* Maintain all testing equipment in good working order and compliant with regulations.
* Manage time efficiently while moving between sites, either solo or as part of a team.
Requirements
* City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
* Proof of own insurance and calibrated instruments.
* Reliable transport to reach sites.
* Strong communication skills and a can‑do attitude.
* Ability to work independently as a self‑employed contractor.
