Job Summary
The Ophthalmology Department cares for patients of all ages attending a wide range of ophthalmic clinics. We have Doctor/Nurse led clinics on all sites. There is currently a vacancy for a 24-hour part-time Band 3 Clinical Support Worker post at Furness General Hospital.
In this role, you will work in general ophthalmology clinics, specialised ophthalmic clinics, preoperative assessment, and support the organisation and running of theatre lists daily. This offers an opportunity to cover various aspects of ophthalmic care.
You will undergo in-house training specialising in ophthalmic nursing care and are expected to complete the ophthalmic competencies required for the department.
Main duties of the job
* Support and work under the direction of a registered nurse, providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters.
* Record patient information accurately.
* Provide basic patient care and document it in patient records.
* Perform agreed clinical tasks, clerical duties, and phlebotomy.
* Participate in flexible working hours based on service needs.

Education and Qualifications (Essential)
* Good general education
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills
* Willingness to undertake NVQ Level 3 in a care-related area
Experience (Essential)
* Manual handling of patients using lifting aids
* Previous experience in a care environment
