Job Overview The Royal United Hospital in Bath is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated HCPC registered Physicist or Engineer to lead our Clinical Measurement Team. The team provides specialist diagnostic imaging and measurement services to the Trust, including DEXA and microvascular imaging. The team is an integral part of the Imaging Physics Group, which also includes Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology Physics. The Clinical Measurement section is a friendly and enthusiastic team of clinical scientists, nurse specialists, ultrasound scientists, clinical technologists and assistants. The vital importance of research, development and innovation is recognised and there is active involvement in clinical trials and various research projects both internally and with external partners. Main duties of the job You will provide scientific and technical leadership to the Clinical Measurement Group. You will be an effective communicator and an inspiring leader, able to develop the teams and the services. The role leads the provision of DEXA and microvascular imaging services, including thermal imaging, nailfold capillaroscopy and laser Doppler imaging, and also undertaking compartmental pressure assessments. The role initiates, leads and collaborates on research and innovation projects in areas of medical physics and in support of other clinical specialities, for the benefit of patients and staff. Person specification Qualifications And Experience Essential criteria Good honours degree in Physical Science Approved MSc or higher degree in Medical Physics or Bioengineering HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist (Medical Physics) Appropriate management courses Desirable criteria Chartered Engineer Ph.D is a scientific subject Knowledge and Experience Essential criteria Specialist knowledge and practical experience in Clinical Measurement and physiological measurement techniques Experience initiating and leading research and innovation activities Extensive experience of working in a multidisciplinary team Desirable criteria Confident communicating and presenting scientific information at national level Attainment of external grant funding or workforce development training Knowledge of quality management systems Please note - Due to recent changes in UK immigration and visa rules applicants who do not currently have the right to work in the UK may not be considered unless an alternative right to work solution can be provided.
