Senior Therapy Assistant

The closing date is 14 October 2025

The Trauma and Elective Physio Orthopaedic Team are looking to recruit a band 3 therapy assistant to join our enthusiastic team.

The senior therapy assistants role is to support qualified therapists in providing assessment and discharge planning for trauma and elective surgical patients on the orthopaedic wards at Warrington Hospital and the Captain Sir Tom Moore (CSTM) Site at Halton.

You must have a flexible caring approach, be able to work well in a team but also have responsibility for your own caseload. You will provide an holistic approach to patients, without direct supervision, but accountable to the responsible therapist.

Good communication is essential with the ability to discuss treatment pathways with the patient, alongside following consultant guidelines.

Please see full job description attached.

If you are an overseas national who would require a Certificate of Sponsorship from the Trust to ensure your Right to Work in the UK, the Band 3 Healthcare worker role is unable to offer this if you are new to the NHS (or have less than 2 years service in the NHS) and therefore your starting salary would be £24,071. This is due to a change in the increased salary threshold advised by the UK Home Office on 12th March 2025, stating that Employer sponsorship will only be available for starting salaries above £25,000. If you apply for the role and this restriction applies to you, your application would be automatically rejected prior to shortlisting stage.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a large multidisciplinary team, including Drs, Nurses, Orthopaedic consultants, Occupational therapists and the discharge planning team, to help support patients to return home in a safe and timely manner from the hospital. Essential skills such as good verbal and written language and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required. Alongside supporting patients in clinical areas, the job will entail some none clinical management and administration tasks, as well as participating in service improvement and development initiatives. Experience of working and caring for patients in an inpatient setting would be of benefit as the role is primarily patient focused. The team delivers a 7 day working pattern, with a rota system to cover weekends.
