🧠 Best Interests Assessor (BIA) - Leicester (£34-£38/hr, Full-Time)
Are you an experienced Best Interests Assessor passionate about upholding the rights of vulnerable adults? We're looking for a dedicated BIA to join a forward-thinking Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team in Leicester, working to ensure assessments are timely, thorough, and person-centred.
🔹 Role: Best Interests Assessor (Full-Time)
🔹 Location: Leicester
🔹 Rate: £34-£38 per hour (dependent on experience)
🔹 Contract: Temporary (initial 3-6 months with potential for extension)
🔹 Start Date: ASAP
📝 About the Role:
As a BIA, you will be responsible for undertaking DoLS assessments under the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), ensuring all decisions made are in the best interests of the individual. You'll work closely with care providers, families, and other professionals to ensure lawful and ethical care planning.
✅ Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake Best Interests Assessments as part of the DoLS process
* Collaborate with Section 12 doctors and other relevant professionals
* Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations and reports
* Ensure assessments comply with legal and ethical standards
* Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records and documentation
🎓 Requirements:
* Qualified Best Interests Assessor with valid BIA accreditation
* Current Social Work England, NMC, or HCPC registration (as applicable)
* In-depth knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and relevant case law
* Strong assessment, analysis, and report-writing skills
* Experience working in adult social care or mental health settings preferred
