What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Planning Support Admin Officer REF: Sunderland 5273347 Pay rate: £14.36 per hour PAYE The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Planning Support Admin Officer to provide technical and support services to the Development Management function. You will provide a range of technical, administrative, financial or support services to internal and external customers. Ideally you will have previous experience of working within an office environment and some knowledge of the Planning Legislation and the Planning process. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical and administrative support for planning application processing under the Town and Country Planning Acts and related legislation. Register, validate, and process various planning-related applications, including fee assessments, consultations, and decision notices using computerized systems. Handle public and staff enquiries efficiently and courteously. Maintain Development Control records and assess Prior Notification proposals for legislative compliance. Operate and help develop IT and document management systems, including scanning and indexing documents. Conduct property history searches using manual and digital records. Prepare committee presentations and issue planning decision documents, including Section 106 agreements. Adhere to BS 9001 Quality Management standards and uphold Council data privacy and information management policies. What the client is looking for: Experience of working within an office environment and good admin skills and experience Some knowledge of the Planning Legislation and the Planning process. Good IT skills with knowledge of a range of different computer packages e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc. Well organised with the ability to work to tight timescales and demonstrate attention to detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with a wide range of customers, contractors and other members of staff. Ability to work individually and as an effective team member. An understanding of the need to deal with customers sensitively and to keep information confidential. Ability to take on individual project work and demonstrate initiative.
