Job Description
Our client, a specialist manufacturer with a multi-site operation across Oxfordshire, is seeking a hard-working and process-driven Health and Safety Advisor to join a growing team. Reporting to the H&S Manager, the role is a key position responsible for maintaining compliance with H&S legislation across the business and implementing measures to ensure a safe working environment.
The role will be varied, involving administrative tasks, on-site staff engagement, technical assessments, and strategy meetings. You will interact with contractors, consultants, and staff from various areas including offices, laboratories, and machine workshops. A confident communicator is essential. You will also supervise and mentor members of the H&S team and other staff involved in H&S activities.
Health and Safety Advisor key responsibilities:
1. Sustain and advocate for exemplary Health and Safety standards within a rapidly evolving business environment.
2. Cultivate a constructive Health & Safety mindset across the entire workforce.
3. Partner with operational and engineering teams to understand complex processes and establish safety protocols.
4. Examine and evaluate risk assessments, operational procedures, documentation, safety signage, and policies.
5. Coordinate internal and external compliance audits.
6. Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
7. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within safety management frameworks.
8. Prepare reports for the board of directors and external auditors.
9. Provide guidance and oversight to the H&S team and staff involved in safety activities.
Health and Safety Advisor requirements:
* NEBOSH Diploma qualification.
* Excellent knowledge of UK safety legislation and workplace safety requirements.
* Extensive experience in a H&S role within manufacturing or scientific environments.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Oxfordshire.
