Technical Director / Associate Director HV Substation Design An established Transmission & Distribution engineering team is seeking a senior HV Substation specialist to take a leading role on major UK and Ireland energy infrastructure projects.
This position focuses on primary plant design for large-scale substations and grid connections, typically operating between 132kV400kV. Projects span feasibility, optioneering, FEED, detailed design and design assurance for new and existing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Lead technical discussions with clients and multi-disciplinary teams
Own technical delivery, including approach definition, progress oversight and design review
Apply strong understanding of the substation asset lifecycle to deliver safe, buildable designs
Support project planning, resourcing and programme development
Contribute to bids, proposals and commercial management
Build strong client relationships and promote a Safety in Design culture
Mentor and develop junior engineers
About You Background in consultancy, contracting or utility environments within the energy sector
Proven HV substation design experience at concept, FEED and detailed design stages
Strong knowledge of AC HV primary plant (AIS & GIS)
Familiar with UK transmission standards
Proposal/bid experience advantageous
Exposure to secondary systems, HVDC, control or protection systems beneficial
