My client is a leading Rotary Equipment company that operates across various industries, providing a range of services. They are now seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of their machining department, ensuring that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The Role - Machine Shop Supervisor:
 1. Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of machinists and operators
 2. Assign and explain daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
 3. Ensure the cost-effective use of labor and materials to meet production targets
 4. Oversee workflow planning to achieve customer deadlines
 5. React quickly to production issues and resolve problems as they arise
 6. Maintain discipline, timekeeping, and absence management within the team
 7. Provide hands-on training and support to machinists
 8. Read and interpret CAD drawings to select the correct machinery and processes
 9. Oversee the operation of CNC machines, lathes, and pillar drills
 10. Monitor machine performance and adjust settings for optimal results
 11. Perform quality checks to ensure output meets specifications
 12. Maintain records of production, approved units, and defective products
 13. Carry out routine maintenance and ensure equipment safety compliance
 14. Support continuous improvement and efficiency within the workshop
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Machine Shop Supervisor:
 15. Proven experience as a machinist, with supervisory or team leader experience in a machine shop environment
 16. Strong background in manual, semi-automated, or CNC machining
 17. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics
 18. Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, verniers)
 19. Understanding of machining ferrous, non-ferrous, plastic, and copper materials
 20. Knowledge of speeds, feeds, and machining best practices
 21. Experience repairing journals and shafts
 22. Experience with welding or balancing would be advantageous, but not essential
