What you will do in your working day
Responsible to the Waste & Recycling Officer. You will support the administration officers in tasks relating to the Councils Waste & Transport Service. Tasks include data input, filing, assisting with bulk printing, stock monitoring and assisting with all other duties related to the administration.
Your duties will include:
1. Provide support and assistance to departments by engaging with and responding to customer and colleague enquiries, to support the day-to-day operations and development of the Waste Management & Transport department.
2. Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from members of the public, suppliers, and other staff.
3. Deal with all customer contact effectively, and courteously, in line with the council’s policies and procedures.
4. Maintain manual and computerised systems including inputting data, keeping records, statistics, confidential and general filing systems as directed.
5. Research, prepare, print, photocopy and distribute documents.
The training you will be getting
For this Apprenticeship Standard, learners will have the opportunity to give focus on the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the standard that will allow for good business acumen, decision making and the understanding of tools and techniques in relation to time and project management. The completion of this Apprenticeship Standard will require monthly training visits from a qualified IPS Trainer to help support the Apprentice. This will allow them to develop skills and progress the building of the Apprentice portfolio to prepare the learner for End Point Assessment.
Delivery is primarily carried out through remote visits, but the trainer will visit the learner’s workplace quarterly and at the start of training to allow for a good working relationship between all parties for smooth delivery of the Standard. Upon successful completion, the learner will achieve the Level 3 Business Administrator Standard.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
This role will give you great hands-on experience in a customer facing environment that will equip you with key transferable skills in ICT, telephone techniques, clerical support, administration, time management and teamwork, as well as building an insight into Local Government.
