Role Summary

Within this role, you will:

1. Work at the independent living centre (ILC) providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers. The specialist area is community equpiment and includes a wide range of acute, chronic and terminal care cases, many having highly complex disabilities and/or presentations.
2. Be part of an interdependent, multidisciplinary team ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patient’s overall care plan.
3. Offer expert advice in complex equipment, postural management and moving & handling.
4. Work collaboratively with NHS, Social Care, commissioners and community partners.

5. Provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers. The specialist area is community equpiment and includes a wide range of acute, chronic and terminal care cases, many having highly complex disabilities and/or presentations.
6. Lead the clinical specialty providing leadership, development and governance in relation to the clinical area and supporting other clinicians regarding patient treatment and management.
7. Be part of an interdependent, multidisciplinary team ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patient’s overall care plan.
8. Work with the manager to lead and develop the service in line with patient need and trust wide developments and to help provide an equitable service across the Trust.Areas of Responsibility: To evaluate equipment and provide expert advice to commissioners, providers and clinicians regarding stock and non-stock items provided by the community equipment service in terms of cost effectiveness, accessibility and suitability. To provide specialist equipment specialist advice that is accessed by NHS and DCC Community Adult Services, provider sector and the general public.To act in an advisory capacity for clinical and legislative issues to ensure safe practice and ensure adherence to relevant clinical standards/guidelines set out by internal organisations, government and other professional bodies.To support the DILIS contract manager to ensure contract objectives are met with regard to equipment provision and risk management. To make strategic and operational judgements based on risk assessment, making recommendations and managing conflicting views. To identify training needs that relate to equipment assessment and prescription and to plan, co ordinate and present equipment updates and training to multidisciplinary employees from Adult Health and Social Care, and the wider Health sector including Care home providers around the county. To develop appropriate guidance and resources that can be accessed by key stakeholders including the public and carer support networksThe post holder will fulfil all tasks and work as part of a team. To meet the needs of the service, the post holder may be required to work in other areas as appropriate and as directed by the line manager

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 6-7 rates, inclusive of a pay award implemented from April 6. If you join before this date,, remuneration will be based on the 5-6 pay bandings (Pay scales for 5/ | NHS Employers)
