Larkside Practice are seeking amotivated, compassionate and reliable applicant to join our team in the role ofGeneral Practice Assistant (GPA). This isa PCN ARRS role with the successful applicant working solely at LarksidePractice under a Larkside contract.
This is a full time positionoffering an exciting opportunity to support both the clinical and pharmacyteams in delivering high-quality patient care. It will involve basic clinicalduties and also administrative skills. The role will be worked over four days, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (Wednesday is a non-working day), 36 hours per working week. Applicants must haveexperience working within the NHS have good computer skills and offer excellentcustomer service.
You will report to the Nurse Managerand Pharmacist and play a key role in improving workflow, reducing clinicianworkload, and enhancing patient experience. Training will be provided, a strongcommitment to learning and development.You will have a clinical mentor during your probation/training periodand will be expected to understand the Competency Framework and all that thisentails.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Support
Use and maintain informationreporting systems and databases relevant to the position using SystmOne
Record and document vital signs(e.g. blood pressure, pulse, temperature)
Assist with phlebotomy, ECGs and chaperoning. Provide basic treatment room duties.
Support annual health checks andlong-term condition monitoring
Run medication safety audits in conjunctionwith the in-house pharmacist and highlight patients that require clinical review e.g. in response toMHRA / national patient safety alerts, the local incentive scheme, quality andoutcomes framework (QOF) or local updates
Administrative Support
Support the in-house pharmacistwith medication reviews, hospital discharge letters and the Drug Monitoring system.
Practice Operations
Participate in team meetings,training sessions, and service development activities
Communicate effectively withcolleagues, patients, and external agencies
Maintain confidentiality andfollow practice policies and procedures
Participate in an annual individual performancereview (appraisal)
Able to apply confidentiality, tact anddiplomacy in conducting the duties required of this role
Manage a workload effectively and operate independently
Training & Development
Full in-house induction andongoing support

The Practice currently has 10,000registered patients and opens 8.00am - 6.30pm each weekday (excluding BankHolidays), plus 1 late night clinic per week and some Saturday clinics.

Experience
* Experience of working within the NHS
Qualifications
* GCSEs in English and Maths
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Phlebotomy, ECGs and basic treatment room clinical skills
* Proficient in basic IT systems, including Microsoft Office
* Ability to manage workload and work independently under supervision
* Friendly and professional manner with patients and colleagues
* Willingness to undertake training and commit to ongoing learning is essential for this role
* Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both patients and colleagues
* Ability to work with confidential sensitive information and understand boundaries
* Competent and confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications
* Experience working in a general practice or healthcare setting
* Awareness of medical terminology

* Understanding of QOF and primary care targets
* Care Certificate or equivalent qualification
* Administrative experience and good organisational skills
