Many consulting firms produce high level strategy documents that provide little clarity on how to actually track progress against real numbers. Our clients need a way to translate complex commercial advice into organized projects where the data is consistently accurate and the timelines are grounded in reality. This is why we need a Project Administrator to manage the connective tissue between our analysis and our execution.
About Blue Oak
Blue Oak Consulting specializes in providing commercial advice where the answer is not obvious. We work with leadership teams to peel back the layers of strategy talk and look at the actual economics of a business. Our team is skeptical by nature. We look at pricing architectures, capital allocation, and fixed cost structures to find where value is leaking or where capital is trapped. We believe that most commercial questions arrive wrapped in language that obscures the real choices. Our job is to surface what the numbers are hiding and test whether assumptions actually hold under pressure. We do not just deliver slide decks and walk away. We help clients understand the downside risks and help them make decisions that make sense even if the base case fails. Whether we are looking at SaaS unit economics or manufacturing capacity, we focus on the variables that actually drive the outcome. It is a rigorous, disciplined way of working that prioritizes truth over momentum. We are a fully remote firm that values clear thinking and plain speaking over corporate jargon.
The role
As a Project Administrator, you will be the primary coordinator for our consulting engagements. This is an entry level position intended for someone who values organization and detail over abstract theorizing. You will spend your time tracking project milestones, maintaining our internal documentation, and ensuring that our data collection processes stay on schedule. You will be responsible for setting up the digital environments where our consultants and clients collaborate. This involves monitoring task completion, flagging potential delays before they become problems, and keeping our project management software updated. You will also help prepare meeting agendas and summaries that focus on the decisions made rather than just listing what was said. Because we are a remote firm, your role is essential for keeping our communication channels clear and our project files orderly. You will work closely with our lead consultants to make sure that the logistical side of our work reflects the same rigor as our financial analysis.
What we need from you
* The ability to organize large amounts of information without losing track of the details.
* A clear writing style that relies on facts and plain language rather than buzzwords.
* Familiarity with standard project management software or a willingness to learn new digital tools quickly.
* A disciplined approach to deadlines and the ability to follow set processes consistently.
* Basic proficiency with spreadsheets and data entry, ensuring that inputs are accurate and consistent.
* Comfort working in a fully remote environment where proactive communication is necessary.
* An interest in business economics and a desire to see how companies operate beyond the marketing surface.
What the role offers
This position provides a direct look into the mechanics of commercial strategy and business economics. You will work in an environment that values objective truth and logical reasoning. We offer a permanent, full time role with the flexibility of working from any location. Since we are a remote first company, we have built our workflows around asynchronous communication and clear documentation rather than constant meetings. You will receive hands on experience in project management and professional services, learning how to structure complex work into manageable parts. We provide a space where you can develop your analytical skills and gain exposure to various industries, from software to manufacturing, all while contributing to a team that prizes substance over presentation.
Who tends to do well here
Individuals who succeed at Blue Oak Consulting are those who prefer asking why over accepting a polished presentation at face value. We look for people who are naturally skeptical and find satisfaction in getting the details right. If you are someone who enjoys bringing order to complex situations and values honesty and directness in professional relationships, you will likely find our way of working refreshing. We do not expect you to have years of experience, but we do expect a high level of personal accountability and a genuine interest in the rigorous analysis we perform for our clients.
