Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we are addressing our security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will serve as a role model for security, promoting good behaviors and contributing to safeguarding the organisation’s people, data, information, and physical assets.
In this role you will:
1. Help the Corporate Security Manager oversee and mitigate security risks.
2. Provide leadership on assessing and managing security risks, including our retained responsibilities.
3. Collaborate with risk owners to ensure risks are understood, assessed, and mitigated.
4. Provide assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors.
5. Partner with Defra group Security to develop security strategies, policies, and processes.
6. Lead initiatives to improve security culture through training, communication, and engagement.
7. Run governance meetings to oversee security decisions.
8. Maintain networks with security professionals to stay updated on the latest developments.
The wider team manages diverse activities, and there is an expectation for you to engage in various team projects, providing opportunities to gain broad experience.

The team
You will join a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security team, focused on organizational resilience and effectiveness. You will have access to professional security advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience/skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you don’t need to be a security professional, you should have:
* An understanding of broader influences on organizational security to enable continuous improvement.
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, promote partnerships, influence, and inspire others.
* Experience building effective partnerships within Defra and the Environment Agency to jointly manage risks.
* Ability to work with senior stakeholders, manage multiple priorities, and handle competing demands.
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, leading communications, and implementing business change solutions is advantageous.

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest office in England with the option to work remotely. Some travel will be required for meetings.
