Southern Housing are looking for a naturally caring individual who's dedicated to helping others in need to join our amazing team of care and support workers at our extra care schemes across the Isle of Wight!
As Senior Care and Support Worker you will assist the Registered Manager onsite to deliver a high level of care for residents, ensuring care is compliant with CQC
The location: Our CQC Registered Office is in Newport, however this is a role that is based in our services across the Island delivery care and support to residents living in our schemes or in their own homes.
What you’ll be doing
1. To support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to line manage staff including supervision, appraisals, absence monitoring, and providing them with appropriate support and training to ensure their continuing personal and professional development as well as compliance with regulations
2. Maintain awareness of all legislative and contractual agreements for effective and quality service provision.
3. Monitor and assist with the development of resident involvement, daily activities and social inclusion within the wider community.
4. Assist the Registered Manager and deputy manager in the assessment of potential residents if required.
5. Provide care to residents, as identified in their person-centred care plan as necessary. This will include intimate personal care.
6. Responsible for ensuring the delivery of care that promotes independence, rights, choices and inclusion in their community
What you’ll need
7. Hold relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) or actively studying towards this
8. Basic First Aid certificate
9. Proven knowledge of health & safety appropriate to the post
10. Knowledge and awareness of local services
11. Be able to listen and communicate effectively
12. Excellent written and oral communication skills
13. Able to work unsupervised
14. Basic health and safety awareness
15. Ability to act calmly and professionally in emergency situations
16. Basic IT skills
