The post holder will see patients that have been triaged by the medical/ED consultant from assessment and referred from ED, GPs, NIAS, Outpatients, and other specialist teams.
Patients will be rapidly assessed, diagnosed, and have a management treatment plan prescribed and implemented with a view to discharging home.
Provision of primary medical care to ambulant patients with a wide variety of conditions streamed from the sources outlined above.
Provide a high standard of evidence-based, compassionate care to patients in the Direct Assessment Unit.
Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents necessary during the performance of these duties.
Provide initial assessment, medical review, and appropriate investigations and diagnostics within appropriate timeframes, similar to those in the ED, to improve the patient experience.
Collaborate with other specialties to develop pathways that will improve and expedite the patient’s journey.
Teach undergraduates, nursing staff, and colleagues.
Liaise with social services, inpatient specialties, primary care, and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to provide high-quality care to patients in DAU.
Ensure commitment to secretarial support and maintain an adequately equipped office, including IT facilities.
