A vacancy has arisen for a Sqn Ldr (Air and Space Ops Air Ops (Any)) to serve as Tactical Datalink Standards 2 at MOD Abbey Wood on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve (90) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 04 May 2026 (or earlier / later subject to candidate status).
This is a pivotal role as the UK Desk Officer for Tactical Data Link (TDL) Standards. This is a unique opportunity to support NATO-level standards, contribute to critical defence capabilities and represent the UK on the international stage.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Support UK TDL Standards Development
* Assist in managing and coordinating the UK process for TDL standards ensuring alignment with operational needs.
* Provide Desk Officer Support for TDL IO SME Contract
* Help oversee and coordinate specialist support to maintain interoperability excellence.
* Represent and Assist at NATO Forums
* Act as Deputy Head of Delegation to the NATO TDL Capability Team (CaT) Interoperability Testing Syndicate (ITS).
* Attend four key meetings per year contributing to multinational collaboration.
* Maintain the NATO Interoperability Matrix (IOM) and coordinate UK input to ensure our perspective is included.
* Perform Data Stewardship Duties
* Manage and evolve the TDL Interoperability Reference Dataset ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
* Coordinate provision of data to users and maintain the UK TDL Capabilities and Limitations database.
* Assist in developing a strategy for sustaining and advancing interoperability data.
